Federal Prison Inmate Search

I am looking for someone in the NC DOC I know they have been convicted but I can not for the life of me find out where they are, it was a federal crime and I have search the federal prison site. Final sentencing was in late October and I would have thought by now they would be in the system. This is a really good friend of mine that I haven’t spoken to for a few years now and I have just found out recently that he got himself into this trouble, would really like to be there with letters during this time if someone could help me I would really appreciate it. Also, I have tried to look his name/inmate address up on an inmate search website in all NC jails and prisons, but he is not showing up. Is this because he hasn’t been convicted?
I already know it is “going to be bad.” I would just very much like to contact him in SOME way before I call his mother. I really do not want to have to call her about it. She’s going through enough right now with this.

I can tell he is on some sort of drug. Do you have any idea what it is? Also do you see the marks on his head? What do u think these are?

HE wasn’t a minor when he was convicted and it was before I met him. I met him several years after his release. I didn’t know much about it. Nor did he tell me. No one else will say. I can’t afford a private investigator. I can’t pay for a background check because i can’t find the name. How can I find this info and shouldn’t it be public record?

ok and now i went back and he isn’t popping up at all,does this mean he is no longer there? please a cop or lawyer of somebody in the field that KNOWS what they are talking about
